The crowd jumped in ecstasy as THE KILLERS rocked out at Melbourne's Good Vibrations Festival yesterday, I hope lead singer Brandon Flowers was reading my mind because yes I do love you and your voice :)
KID CUDI made me smile as he belted out Pursuit Of Happiness, THE GOSSIP did their thing, an array of DJ's got the dance floor pumping, despite it being sweaty and gross-it was ok- because everyone was sweaty and gross :)
I danced and I danced and I danced some more...I loved it, in fact I love festivals.
I walked home with thousands of other festival goers, my legs aching, my back possibly out, ears ringing. But I would do it all over again for sure! So why do we love festivals so much?
Suze Brady shares with REAL her festival tales.
A festival described in five words...Brings people together to party
My festival style consists of...I don’t really have a set style it’s dependent on the weather and whatever is clean in my room at the time. My tip is to dress for comfort.
The best festival I have ever been to...Meredith music festival has been hands down the craziest and amazing festival I have been too yet.
My most memorable festival performance...Iggy pop at big day out 2006 the man is amazing and still looks hot shirtless.
At any Festival expect...Absolutely anything.
The craziest festival moment I have ever witnessed... A shirtless guy climbed one of the main metal poles holding up the tent that Justice was playing under at Parklife 2007. Justice refused to continue playing until he came down, which he was refusing being far to consumed in lapping up his 5 seconds of fame (or in this case shame). The crowed got rather angry, there was a lot of booing and rubbish been thrown. And I’m pretty sure the security guards were not too kind when they finally got him down.
Lily Allen is touring Oz with the Big Day Out crew at the mo, and I don't know about you guys, but I'm HANGING for her to head to Melbs. She's doing a side show at Festival Hall and I am going, going, going, and I'm ridiculously excited! I plan to take my man along (although I'm not so sure he's as excited about going as I am) and I plan on getting there early so I can push my way to the front and join the screaming legions of fans. Keep your eye out for me, I'll be the one screaming (or possibly crying), standing in front of the tall, dark and handsome guy who looks bored.
So, why do we love Lily?
She's got 'tude. And it's not arrogant attitude, as in she's better than us, it's attitude that keeps the world on its toes, telling it like it is, in her brutally honest way. Let's face it, she's just saying what we're all thinking!
Her fashion sense. Her early days, at the release of her first album Alright, Still she had a quirky dress sense, mixing fancy, almost formal dresses and skirts with funky runners and tops. Now she's taking a more mature approach to fashion, with news that next year she'll give music a rest while opening her own fashion business (what the deets are I'm not sure). That said, she still has the colourful air around her fashion sense that I hope she never loses.
She's smart and witty. What I find really impressive is how she rhymes in her songs, coming up with words that rhyme with other words in a way that would take me at least a week to think of. She's definitely got a smart head upon her shoulders, and the way she used Myspace to launch her career was genius, when numerous recording labels had rejected her songs. That'll learn ya!
She's easy to relate to! Lily's that rebellious friend everyone needs to keep themselves REAL. Questioning authority and society's mixed up ways is all part of her songwriting.
Her music videos rock. They are funny, fun to watch and different. Just like Lily!
Did you love 2009? We certainly did :) and we are still coming to terms with the fact that it's 2010..a new decade, full of new music, parties, girly chats, movies, books, love affairs and holidays!
In remembrance of the year that was 2009 I suggest you take four and a half minutes to watch this pretty awesome clip and reminisce over the 365 days that saw the end of a glorious decade…
