I don't do FASHION, I am FASHION
Dressing for you

One of the things I love about Melbournians is their diversity in fashion. One could lament that fashion here seems to be restricted to blacks and corporate-looking wear but really, the only place I see this happening is in the CBD on weekdays.

Head off to the suburbs on the weekends and catch sight of a myriad of hues and styles, reflecting the multicultural influences and the global city Melbourne has become. Perhaps it’s not exactly Tokyo or New York, but it is a place that I feel comfortable to dress how I want to and to explore how my identity can be portrayed into the clothes I wear.

Certainly, clothes do not make a man but who can argue against the fact that what we wear is often a reflection of something, be it someone we are (e.g. an environmentalist buying 2nd hand clothes), someone we would like to be (e.g an aspiring banker wearing corporate clothes to an interview), or in some cases, someone we think others would like us to be (e.g. peer pressure influencing the clothes we wear).

In a city like Melbourne, an environment has been fostered to accept most styles of dressing, and with markets such as Camberwell, and 2nd hand shops such as Savers, costs can be cut.

So why not take advantage of it and explore your identity in sartorial terms?

I am posting a link to a really interesting website.

http://melindatankardreist.com.au/2010/01/women-blindfolded-and-gagged-the-latest-in-men%e2%80%99s-fashion-from-roger-david/

Recently Roger David released a new range of mens T-Shirts portraying women bound and gagged, they advertise these shirts on their facebook site and their official website.

It is up to us as the consumer to take a stand against this blatant sexism as no man should ever think it is ok to wear a shirt that displays dominated women on it.

Take a stand and let Roger David know your thoughts and stand up for women and fashion.

Thank your lucky stars...

Hello Again!

Today I'm writing to you from the beautiful Siem Reap in Cambodia! Siem Reap is the home of the temples of Ankgor built by the orginal kings of Cambodia. Now they are open for tourists to explore and buddhists to worship. A fun fact, today we are going to the temple where Angelina Jolie shot the movie tomb raider! Bound to take some cool action shots, and to get there we are going to ride an elephant!

Now as beautiful as this town is (so clean with a beautifully relaxed atmosphere) there are some things that really stand out to the western tourist. To me its the children, no matter what time of the day or night there is always children on the street selling old tour books, bangles. These kids don't get the chance to go to school and their lives are already set into taking over their family business of driving Tuk Tuks (little carts that ferry tourists around), selling old information books, or jewlerry or silk scarves. The worst of it though is the young girls we see out in the night clubs and pubs every night. These girls are generally between 15-18 and are surrounded by seedy old white men while they drum up business by dancing in scantily cflad clothing. Many of these girls don't have a choice as they may be the sole income bearers for their family or their family may have forced them into the profession. I spoke to one of them while playing some pool and although she seemed perfectly happy with her situation, when I told her I was from Australia she got very excited and told me how she dreamed of going to Australia and living there and getting married and having kids with her boyfriend. I asked if her boyfriend was from town and she mentioned that he was from Phonm Penn and she didn't get to see him that often but he understood her work.

In Australia we don't realise just how lucky we are that we are presented with the opportunites we get. The education and the government services. Even though schools can often seem like the most boring place in the world, they have a purpose they are educating us soi that we can lead better lives and not be forced to rely on our bodies to survive. Travelling has the ability to broaden your horizons infinetly and is something I think everyone should get a chance to do at some point of their life.

I will write again soon with stories from my next point of calling, until then stay safe and remember there is a much bigger world out there, so from one little fish to another

Keep on trucking

Lady Gaga has some pretty crazy outfits, the latest was this hat type convention that could possibly be her real hair?? We are not quiet sure? I loved playing dress ups when I was little and well it seems Lady Gaga also loves dressing up...check out some of her out-there, unique, layered, glam and simply stunning outfits that would be soooo much fun to wear!!

Audrey Hepburn look-a-like as she signs covers of her new album The Fame Monster.

'I want your drama, the touch of your hand, i want your leather studded kiss in the scene'

Disco ball, bring back the 80's baby!

Flowerbomb- actually a name of a perfume but thought it was a good description :)

Hot gloves, glasses and fishnet stockings...the combo of a super-cute-star

Now this one worries me slightly...I love Gaga, but where is her face?

Anyway, face or no face, you rock my lovely and so do your outfits...just proves we never get too old to play dress ups :)
